Overthinking — why you can't switch your brain off

Does this sound familiar?

A cloud on your head. Mentally exhausted, and still wide awake at 2am. Can't eat, can't sleep, can't relax.

Going over what you said last week, and dreading a conversation that hasn't happened yet. You've tried to think your way out of it — you're clever, that usually works — and this is the one thing that doesn't respond.

The Five Nights

  • Monday 28 September

What a thought actually is. Where thinking comes from, and why yours won't stop.

  • Tuesday 29 September

Catching them. How to notice a thought without getting into an argument with it.

  • Wednesday 30 September

Talk to your brain. Answering back to the voice that never lets up.

  • Thursday 1 October

A new way to hold it. Stepping back from a thought instead of wrestling it.

  • Friday 2 October

Where's the evidence? Telling the difference between a fact and a verdict you've passed on yourself.

This is Not Therapy

Brain Sprint is neuroscience-based psychoeducation. It's teaching and skill building — it isn't therapy, and it isn't a substitute for it.

Who it’s for, and who it isn’t

It's for people who will actually do the exercises, live, with me. Not theory, not talking about it — doing it. That's what changes how you think, feel and behave.

It isn't for anyone in crisis, or for anyone who needs one-to-one help with something specific right now.

Who Runs it

Dr Sharyn Kennedy is a cognitive psychologist in Abu Dhabi. Fourteen years, more than 3,000 clients — most of them accomplished people quietly undone by their own thinking. She teaches how the brain actually works, because understanding it beats fighting it.
